la | museum of ice cream
A couple of weeks back my best friend and I drove down to LA for many reasons but one of the main was to experience the Instagram worthy, Museum of Ice Cream. I got to meet new friends but also see friends from SCAD that had started their new life in LA. So crazy that it's already been more than a month since I graduated college!!
The first day we left early morning and basically had smooth sailing- driving wise. We met up with our friends in Manhattan Beach and despite the overcast, icky weather we were able to make the best of it and run through the thrashing (and might I add freezing) waves. Later that night we hung around DTLA and got some drinks at the Ace Hotel's rooftop bar. Guys, I felt so "adult"!!!!!
Sunday was a very good day for me. We went to a morning service for Hillsong and a night service at Mosaic. There's something amazing about walking into a church where you know no one and understanding that the main reason you're here is because you seek a relationship with God. There's something even more amazing when a complete stranger comes up to you and squeezes you with so much joy that you break down crying because you realize that you aren't the only one chasing after God. We met up with a friend (who also went to SCAD but was a year older) who I had not met in person but had welcomed us into her home. Despite us not knowing each other during college, the beauty of social media had brought us together!!
On Monday we stopped at the Observatory-can I just say how crowded it still was despite being closed on Mondays?!?! After "hiking" to and fro the observatory, we headed down to Malibu and OH MY GAWSH, the blue water is so gorgeous!! We spent a few hours in the sun (I definitely got burnt!) and headed back downtown for meet for dinner before our slot in the museum! A very memorable night, indeed!
Tuesday we decided we couldn't stay in and would have to brave the traffic to make a trip to the beach. We agreed on meeting at Zuma Beach, which is still in Malibu. Many of us had fourth plans afterwards and went our own way (a slight bittersweet ending to our group visit). My friend whose house we were staying at has an amazing backyard view that pretty much overlooks all of LA and the fireworks show was nothing compared to what I had seen in the past. To add to that incredible view, we witnessed a shooting start just over Glendale!!
Wednesday: At this point, everyone who had a job had to return to work and B and I headed our way out to Palm Springs...which will lead us into the second part of this post!
