nyc | day 2: times square, moma, broadway

yesterday we had a very busy friday. fri-yay! we stopped by doughnut plant to try some of their rather popular donuts. unfortunately by the time we go there most of their selection was slim. luckily i was adventurous and tried their peach donut and their cinnamon one as well. wow those were both delicious! the thing with donuts is that i can’t have too many. if i inhale too many, my stomach freaks out and well the day ends up not being so nice. our next stop was our airbnb host’s work so we could pick up her key which led us to times square. we heard that there was a ferris wheel in the toys r us and ran inside to see for ourselves. that was rather interesting.

we wanted to see a broadway show so we spent a little more time in the store trying to figure out how we could get the cheapest tickets but with decent seats. thankfully the theater was around the corner and we just had to pick up the tickets. AND the best part was that around the corner from the theater was shake shack! i had never been but was dying to try it and those crinkle fries, dang. i was so thankful that everything was around the corner from each other and within walking distance so we didn’t have to spend so much money on taxis. (i bought a metro card and it’s such a blessing). after making it to our airbnb (upper east village) we took the subway back to the city so we could get in line for free friday at the MoMa. talk about being in a building that literally everyone in nyc had attended. oh my gosh, there was so much to see, it was quite overwhelming..in a good way of course. i must say my favorite was seeing monet and those artists i had studied in art history (yes, i was paying attention in class!)

after the museum, we tracked back to times square to see the phantom of the opera. yes i repeat, my musical dreams came true. if you didn’t know already, the phantom is my absolute favorite musical/opera production ever. to see it performed live was the best thing that could’ve happened. i was jumpy the entire time. needless to say, i would see it again in a heartbeat.

afterwards we found ourselves in the middle of times square on a friday night with again, the entire population out and about. that was fun, scary and all kinds of feelings. we, with the help of uber (thanks uber!) made it back to upper east village and was able to reenergize for the next days of exploring the big city.
